Beeswax (cera alba) is a natural wax produced by honey bees of the genus Apis. The wax is formed into scales by eight wax-producing glands in the abdominal segments of worker bees, which discard it in or at the hive. The hive workers collect and use it to form cells for honey storage and larval and pupal protection within the beehive. Chemically, beeswax consists mainly of esters of fatty acids and various long-chain alcohols.
Our beautiful beeswax comes directly from the beehives. It is produced by happy settled bees and harvested by us. We produce two products with our beeswax, one goes directly back into the hive (foundation sheets) and the other we turn intobeeswax candles.
Two Busy Bees Honey beeswax candles are handcrafted from the fine layer of beeswax cappings that the bees produce to cap the honey in the cells. We remove this fine layer of beeswax with a hot knife before we harvest our delicious raw honey. The resulting beeswax has a beautiful natural colour and a wonderful light honey aroma. It is boiled and cleaned many times and naturally filtered through fine muslin to remove any hive impurities up to six times, ready to impart wonderful properties to your homemade products. Colour variations found in pollen results in the yellow colour of these beeswax candles varying throughout the year.
Beeswax candles have a higher melt point than other waxes which results in a brighter flame (that doesn't smoke) and warm amber glow. Two Busy Bees Honeybright yellow handcrafted beeswax candles have a warm honey aroma when burning and produces negative ions that actually clean the air a create a real sense of well being and contentment. There is nothing artificial added so it is perfect for anyone who suffers from allergies and safe for pets.
Pure refined beeswax is a truly wonderful natural product and has so many amazing uses, beeswax for cosmetic use, beeswax for making crayons, beeswax for soap making, beeswax for balms, beeswax for leather conditioning, beeswax for batik dyeing, beeswax for surfboard wax, beeswax for food wraps, beeswax for furniture polish and beeswax for woodwork projects. The list goes on and on and is only limited by your ingenuity and imagination.
